Life's Battles

It is inevitable that everyone will face battles and stressful times in their lives.  For me, these last couple days have been stressful to say the least.  I have been trying to balance work and school along with the extra stress of applying for a major.  Coming into this week I knew that if I did not face it with a positive attitude, I would not make it through.  Each morning I woke up I tried facing the day with a positive attitude and a prayer for strength.  The results were amazing.  This reminded me of a great quote from Vince Lombardi:

"Life's battles don't always go to the stronger or faster man. But sooner or later the man who wins, is the man who thinks he can."

When we stay positive we can do way more than we would otherwise be able to do, and we enjoy ourselves a lot more as well.  Even within my crazy and stressful 9 hour day of school I was able to find something positive to hold onto.  Today in art we did impressionist paintings of our favorite flowers with oil pastels.  I have never really had a knack for this type of art, but today I thought my piece turned out quite well and helped me to see the good in the day.
I'm not going to try to pretend that I am the perfect example of staying positive all of the time because I certainly have my down days just like everyone else.  Today however was a great reminder for me of the benefits of staying positive and finding the good in the world.

Homemade Calzones!

So today has been quite a productive day for me.  I woke up (before 10 am on a Saturday!) and went with my roommates to check out some apartment for next year. We really like the one we looked at today and there's a possibility we will move there for next year.  It's definately not the fanciest place, but it is very homey feeling and a good price. http://www.sparksapts.com/  After that I did my laundry, homework, cleaned my room and cleaned out my closest!  Quite a productive day that I felt was fit to end with a good meal.

A couple of weeks ago on pinterest I came across a yummy looking recipe for calzone rolls. (http://family.go.com/food/)  I made a few changes since I don't like marinara sauce, but they turned out absolutely delicious! Here is the version of my recipe:
Ingredients:
Butter
Flour
Milk
Parmesan Cheese
Pizza Dough
Mozzarella Cheese
Pepperoni  or any other pizza toppings

Instructions
First I prepared a Roux using the butter, flour, milk, Parmesan cheese, and salt and pepper to make a parmesan sauce.  (If you don't know how to prepare a roux, go here.)  Then I cut my pizza dough in thirds to make three medium sized rectangles.  I just used walmart brand pizza dough in a can, but any kind of pizza dough will work.  Then I spread the parmesan sauce on the dough, added my topping and mozzarella, rolled them up, and baked them for 15 minutes at 375.  Here is the finished product-

I did one with chicken, one with pepperoni, and one with both.  They all turned out delicious and were super easy to make!

Sisters :)

They say that friends are the family you choose, but in my case, one of my best friends is already a part of my family.  "Our roots say we're sisters, our hearts say we're friends."    A while back I found this picture of us and it cracked me up.
So I guess there was a time that we weren't as close.  She was probably just jealous and trying to get rid of me but was caught in the act.  Today we are closer than ever.  Right now she is serving a mission in Argentina, and has been gone for almost a year.  You can check out her blog to read about her amazing experiences there at http://fromhightopstohighheels.blogspot.com/

My sister is truly amazing and has always been my hero.  Lately I have been thinking of her a lot which is why I am dedicating this post to her.  I cannot wait until I get to see her again.  She has always been the first person to hear my secrets, shares my laughter, and dry my tears.  I could not ask for a better older sister.

44 Grapes- A New Personal Best

So this is going to be quite an entertaining post.  Tonight I have set a new personal best for the amount of grapes fit in my mouth.  Random right?  This all started back in high school one day at lunch.  We were sitting and eating and one thing led to another, and although I do not know exactly why we started doing this, I started to see how many grapes I could fit in my mouth.  I think I ended up fitting 35- 40 grapes then.

Tonight I decided to beat my record and succeeded!  We caught it all on video and it is quite entertaining.  Don't worry because my roommate knows the heimlich and CPR so I was totally safe,  and yes, just in case you were wondering, I am wearing my pink panda footie pajamas...

Well there you have it! 44 grapes in my mouth!

So you are all probably wondering...

So you are all probably wondering why my blog is named "How to Wear a Man Sweater," and I am here to answer your question!  Those of you who have been around me in the past six months may have noticed a certain striped sweater that frequents my wardrobe while I am relaxing at home.  This is my man sweater.  My British man sweater to be exact.  You may also be wondering "Why in the world do you have a British Man Sweater?!"  Well to answer that question, it all started back while I was working out in New Jersey at Camp Mason this summer.  It was the night of the talent show and the kids had convinced me and my co-worker Sam to lipsync the "Barbie Girl" song.

The only catch was that I was Ken and Sam was Barbie.  (See Video Below)

This is when I first wore the man sweater, and instantly fell in love with it.  It is quite possibly one of the most comfortable and soft things I have ever worn.  After a long train of events, I finally convinced Sam to give me the sweater and it has been mine ever since :)  So in the end, I named my blog "How to Wear a Man Sweater" simply because it an attention grabber, but I do love my man sweater!
